How to Change your Windows (Login) Password

 

Your Windows Password allows you log into the following systems:

  • Your Windows or Mac Computer
  • Symantech Endpoint Encryption
  • Citrix
  • Shelby
  • Serenic
  • Anyconnect VPN

If you cannot access one of the above systems, follow the instructions below to change your windows password. There are two methods to change your password:

  1. Windows
  2. Self-Service Password Reset

You will need to use option two if your account becomes locked or if the password expires.

Before using Self Service, you will need to set up your account here:

https://passwordreset.usaeast.org

Login with your windows username and password. You will need to set 2 security questions and their respective answers.

Once you have Self Service set up, you may reset your password by visiting https://passwordreset.usaeast.org

You will need answer the 2 securty questions you set up previously.

 

Your Windows password is required to change every 90 days. To reflect this, Windows will prompt you to change your password 5 days before it expires.

Windows

1. While holding the CTRL and ALT Keys, press the Delete Key

2. Click "Change Password"

3. Enter your old password and a new password where indicated. Click the blue arrow button to complete the change.

The password must include 3 out of the 4 items below.

  • Lowercase Letter
  • Uppercase Letter
  • Number
  • Special Character

Additionaly, The password must be at least 8 characters long and must not match the previous 10 passwords you have used.

If you are unable to change the password, please contact the helpdesk.

 

4. Enter the new password to log in.
